3/12/2024 0 Comments Phils computer lab![]() ![]() The Wing Commander CIC is reporting that a custom build of DOSBox has been released, which incorporates the MUNT emulation patch to add true Roland MT-32 support to the DOS emulation environment. ![]() Though it's under constant development, new versions are only officially released from time to time, with many updates inbetween only coming out as changes to the source code on SourceForge. However, these patches assume that users will compile the mt32emu library themselves, as libmt32emu is not distributed via any software repositories (no vcpkg, no brew, almost no Linux repo presence), which is not a long-term solution.DOSBox is an emulator for old PCs running MS-DOS, focused on running classic PC games. Not sure a graphics …Patch for implementing it is distributed in Munt, but also e.g. A simple re-install of Munt fixes the problem. Then, in D-Fend Reloaded, on a per-game basis, I went to the MIDI options and selected MT-32 Synth Emulator as the MIDI device.Later, while using DOSBox I noticed the " MT-32 Synth Emulator " was missing from the Midi Device options. I downloaded Munt, installed the drivers and ROM files. I might have it working, but I'm just not sure. Since it was mentioned on another forum topic, I wanted to give Munt MT-32 Emulator a try with DosBox.
